The Kill - Thirty Seconds to Mars
Heavily stylised appearances. Eyeliner and dark, smart clothing such as a suit and bowtie gives a gothic feel. Hair is long and neat to match; no gel or putty, or any attempt to spike it up. Frontman Jared Leto looks almost ghostly, ethereal, through the use of pale make-up and dark eyeliner.

ROCK MUSIC
Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
Leave Out All The Rest- Linkin Park
Satellite - Rise Against
Here, the band are presented in a grounded way, as they write music casually. This video goes largely for authenticity, with the band dressed casually, a personal yet imperfect portrayal.
Come As You Are - Nirvana
At the opposite end of the spectrum, this video presents the band in an unkempt, almost unclean-looking grunge style. Cobain's messy hair hangs over his eyes, and his murky-coloured clothing gives a scruffy feel.
Street Spirit (Fade Out) - Radiohead
In this video, Thom Yorke wears clothing suited to the black and white theme, but which is notably casual; jeans and a shirt. His hari is gelled up in a rock style, messy and chaotic.
Takes the gothis techniques of 'The Kill' to the next degree. Gerard Way has white hair to match his ghostly, made-up complexion, and the bamd wear skeleton costumes to play up the dead, gothic theme.
The band are presented fairly normally here, but their clothes fit perfectly, their facial hair is perfectly shaven, and their faces are made up to remove blemishes.
Rock music is an incredibly diverse genre, featuring an incredibly large number of sub-genres, each with their own history, fanbase and sound. I aim to produce a magazine which reaches out to as much of the rock crowd as possible, regardless of which subgenre they favour. Such subgenres include Indie, Punk, Grunge, Pop-Punk and Postpunk.
I found a very interesting article on About Entertainment chronicling the origins and development of rock music through to the present day. I decided to try to condense the information provided by this into a concise timeline.

I chose a list of artists, old and new, who are popular today, and attached links to some of their popular music videos, examining how they present themselves.
