My First Photo Shoot

Whilst I was pleased with some images, mostly those for the contents page and double-page spread, I realised that many of my images looked more at home on the front of a lifestyle magazine, and subsequently performed more research into how women are presented on the front of rock magazines. I learned that more make-up and a heavier emphasis on beauty rather than aggressive or exaggerated expression would be needed, but this is not to say that exaggerated expressions are not appropriate; they should simply be less aggresive than those of male models. I also learned that framing my model in a medium close-up or even a close-up for the front page was more appropriate given the fact she was alone. One of the biggest mistakes I made was to photograph the model with her hand on her head, much more connotative of a lifestyle magazine than a music magazine.
