Titles

Based on our prior research, we created the following titles:

Some things... Are best left forgotten

Because once you let him in...

He will never let you go

We felt these were suitably foreboding without revealing too many plot points; in creating more questions than we answer, we give audiences a reason to see the film; so they can receive the answers.

One element we really liked from the trailer for 'The Babadook' was the use of a nursery-style rhyme (If it's in a word, or it's in a look, you can't get rid of the Babadook), as this juxtaposes horror with innocence in a very unsettling way. We decided we wished to use a similar rhyme in our trailer, and as such we decided to google 'Jack in the Box rhyme' and see if any results appeared. We soon found a rhyme we liked:

Jack in the Box

Sits so still

Will he come out?

Yes

He

Will

We felt the implication of something emerging from the box was useful, as our demon in the film escapes its entrapment in the box. We decided to place the last three words on separate lines to draw the phrase out, creating suspence and also matching the pace of our editing; shots become much quicker and more frantic in Act 3.
