Following my research into the work of Nigel Grimmer,  I decided to try and produce a shoot that made good use of captions. I revisited my 'Titanfall' figurines, as I had enjoyed working with the general aesthetic they provided previously, and found an old circuit board complete with a motor and several fuses. This would serve as a spaceship's engine room, and I produced a shoot in which captions helped us get inside the head of soldiers off-duty. Whilst featuring a science-fiction setting, my captions are a criticism of real warfare; the sci-fi setting takes these statements and places them in a fictionalised environment, which serves to highlight their deliberate absurdity; even in a world where soldiers battle on other worlds, these statements come across as either chilling or downright ridiculous. In particular, the image involving the death of two borthers was inspired by Grimmer's work in its symmetry in statements and in visuals.
