The Originals
Many of the images were underexposed or simply not very well lit due to restrictive photography periods for this shoot, being on a family holiday. Evenings were when I had the most opportunities to take photos, and unfortunately the lighting was therefore not brilliant. Not all photos suffered from this, but it was definitely the biggest problem I faced during this shoot; that and having to shoot several images blind, as I could not physically get down low enough to see through the viewfinder or even the screen.; I tried to frame from low angles where possible to manipulate the viewer's sense of scale.
The Edits
In Lightroom, I had to attempt to turn any shots taken in the evening into bright daylight scenes. I increased the exposure and vibrance of these images to achieve this effect, before increasing the clarity on most of the images to make them a little harsher and more defined. I experimented with desaturation but found the best images were the ones in which I left a lot of colour. finally, I cropped several of the images in order to frame the subject in a more aesthetically pleasing manner. In some cases, I selectively muted or adjusted certain colours that were particularly egregious, such as the example on the right.
