Forced Perspective
This page serves as a means by which to catalogue my initial experiments with forced perspective, which would soon develop into my 'Mercy' photo shoot.
Initially, I wanted to work with my Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures models, simply as I felt they would look good. However, I had no real idea or point I was trying to make, I simply wanted to try creating some images.

The models were so small and fragile that I did not wish to take them outside where they were more likely to get damaged. As such, I took some base images, then photographed the ships at matching angles to these images on a white backdrop.

I then photoshopped these together, adding some laser fire to give the feel of an active battle taking place.

I then decided to try the same technique, but make the ships appear to be in space. However, the ships were so small that the depth-of-field was not appropriate, and I had to compensate for this with extremely tacky amounts of motion blur. Ultimately, whilst the composition of this image was good, I felt it was a failure. However, this use of space, and the idea of needing some larger models, did inspire the idea behind 'Mercy'.
